The sleeping giant

This past service at church was on Mother's day, but was also the international day of prayer. Pastor Chris had talked about how the persecuted church has been praying for the American church. He called it the sleeping giant.

Most people don't realize how people everyday are dying for the name of Jesus Christ. The powers of this world are trying hard to stop the advancing of God's kingdom. God is always at work, even when it seems the hope has gone away. But during the prayer the song "while you were sleeping" from casting crowns came to mind. It's a song about a country with no room for it's King.

I have a passion for revival in the American church, that the sleeping giant would one day wake up. With all the chaos that is going on in the world, people need to hear the good news of Jesus Christ.

When I read in Romans about the birth pains of this world, and looking and seeing what is going on, sometimes you just have to wonder, we could be in the last days of this world. Praise the Lord for that, I'm ready for Christ to return before your done reading this post.

Below I've posted the lyrics of the song "while you were sleeping". It's time to wake up sleeping church! It's time to press on for God's agenda! We need to work hard to do the work of the Lord until His return. Keep pressing, keep praying, keep preaching the cross to this lost world. That's what I'm going to do.

WHILE YOU WERE SLEEPING

Oh little town of Jerusalem
Looks like another silent night
The Father gave His only Son
The Way, the Truth, the Life had come
But there was no room for Him in the world He came to save

Jerusalem, what you have missed while you were sleeping
The Savior of the world is dying on your cross today
Jerusalem, you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we're sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we're lying in the dark
There's a shout heard 'cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night, in the night

America, what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America, will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping
Will we be sleeping

United States of America
Looks like another silent night
