The Wise & Foolish Builders

Matthew 7:24-27

"Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

Scripture talks of two kinds of Christians. One that is wise, while the other is foolish. It's clear that the two kinds of Christians both serve to advance God's kingdom, whether that be in pastoral or ministry work, both even read there Bible and pray often. Through conversations you would also find that both would acknowledge that they are the wise builder. Also, it would be fair to say that anyone in the presence of man can talk and look wise (the Pharisees did great at that), but a good part of the wise Christian builds his house in the presence of God when no man is around. Their walk matches their talk, even behind close doors.

I desire to be a wise builder, and hopefully that is your desire. The wise Christian builds a strong house, and what follows, is a strong family, strong faith, a strong Christian life that will always be pointing to the cross! The wise Christian will handle the storms of life understanding that God is in control, the foolish will be broken and felt deserted by God, just the opposite of the wise.

I believe you are doing the right thing in trying to better understand God. but what if there was more than one God-like being? In Genesis at the begining when Adam and Eve ate the apple God said, "And behold, the man is becoming as one of US, to know good and evil..."

Jake,

I posted a comment on your blog via Mormonism. Man made relegions only lead your soul to hell-fire eternity. You should read all of Genesis 3 and understand it as a whole. No reason to pick scripture that seems to go with your understanding of God, which is a problem with the Mormon religion. I've posted it below. Read it for yourself.

The Fall of Man

1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say, 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?"
2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' "

4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to the woman. 5 "For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
